C-Qur Lawsuits Due To Failure Or Problems
The C-Qur™ Hernia Mesh, a product made by Atrium Medical Corporation, is resulting in a high rate of failure and injury following hernia repair surgeries. C-Qur mesh first came on the market in 2006. Since that time, several variations of the C-Qur mesh have been introduced to the market including C-Qur V-Patch, C-Qur Edge, and C-Qur FX. All of the meshes in the C-Qur product line are causing similar and widespread complications. Atrium’s C‐Qur Hernia Mesh is coated in fish oil (Omega‐3) to prevent side effects, but allegations are that the coating actually results in increased complications and infections in hernia repair patients.
Specifically, many patients are experiencing post-surgery infections, adhesions, bowel obstructions, and chronic severe abdominal pain. Often times these injuries are so severe that patients are required to undergo a revision surgery to repair or remove the faulty C-Qur mesh.
Class II Recall for C-Qur™ Hernia Mesh
After the FDA informed Atrium in 2012 of increased infection rates, the company issued a Class II recall of approximately 1,300 lots of C-Qur Hernia Mesh on August 9, 2013. Atrium warned physicians to inspect the C-Qur mesh to insure that it was intact before implanting, but Atrium did not pull any of the C-Qur meshes off the shelf. As a result, C-Qur Hernia Meshes continue to be used during hernia repair surgeries.
