U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) officials are warning consumers about a serious injury risk associated with BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders, following dozens of reports of consumer injuries.
Why were BlendJet Portable Blenders recalled?
In December 2023, BlendJet recalled nearly 5 million BlendJet 2 portable blenders after the company received reports of blenders overheating, catching fire, or the blades breaking during use.
BlendJet is aware of at least 346 incidents involving 50 reports of injuries, such as:
- Severe cuts requiring emergency medical treatment
- Stitches
- Fires Resulting in Property Damage
- Minor Burns
Units subject to the recall will be printed with the first 4 digits of the serial number between 5201 and 5542, along with “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender” on the base. Consumers who purchased a BlendJet 2 Portable Blender between October 2020 and November 2023 are urged to stop using it immediately and contact BlendJet for a free replacement base unit.
