That is why we are proud to introduce Emma Loftin, the newest associate attorney to join our team, an advocate whose passion for justice was shaped long before she ever set foot in a courtroom.
A Passion for Justice, Rooted in Service
Emma grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and moved to Birmingham in 2019 for college. She fell in love with the city and never left.
Her path to the law began unexpectedly, during a college summer spent working as a camp counselor in North Georgia. There, she had the opportunity to mentor young girls in the foster care system. Hearing their stories lit a passion for justice in her heart.
When she confided in her older brother, who was applying to law school at the time, he helped her see how a legal career could give people the tools to help restore what had been taken from them. From that point forward, Emma pursued the law with purpose and excitement to help others.
Emma is a graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and joined Cory Watson Attorneys as an associate attorney after nearly a year with the firm as a law clerk. She is licensed to practice with the Alabama State Bar.
What Drives Emma's Practice
For Emma, personal injury law is about more than legal strategy; it's about presence.
"In personal injury law, we have the unique opportunity to acknowledge that, though no amount of money can ever undo what happened to someone, we can help make sure they are not left to bear the consequences alone," Emma said. "I love being able to walk alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, listen to their stories, advocate for them, and help them pursue justice."
She believes a personal injury lawyer's role is to honor and advocate for the stories of people who have been put in difficult, life-changing situations to be someone in their corner who listens, takes their circumstances seriously, and fights to make sure they are treated fairly.
Academic Achievement and Leadership
During law school, Emma was recognized for her commitment to service and leadership, including:
- Cumberland Spirit of Service Award, 2024–2025, recognizing more than 135 hours of community service
- Secretary, Christian Legal Society, Cumberland School of Law
- Vice President, Women in Law, Cumberland School of Law
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Samford University and a J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law.
A Life of Faith and Community, Beyond the Office
Emma's commitment to others extends well beyond her legal work. She is a devoted member of her church community at All Christ Church – Birmingham and has served as a YoungLife leader at Hoover High School since 2022, mentoring students through weekly large- and small-group meetings.
A born-and-raised Georgia Bulldog, Emma is also a new but passionate tennis player and an avid audiobook lover. When she's not in the office, you'll likely find her exploring Birmingham's food scene or spending time with friends and family.
