Continental Tire announced a product recall September 17, 2014. The tires were sold as original equipment on BMW, KTM, Brammo and Bimota. The defective tires were also sold as aftermarket parts. The recall covers approximately 9,000 motorcycle tires sold in the United States and 170,000 worldwide between 2007 and 2014.

According to a Continental press release, “market feedback indicates that some of these tires have exhibited a condition in the tread and/or belt which may lead to separation and possible air loss.”The company states that there have currently been no reports of accidents or injuries in connection with the defective product.

The product lines included in the recall are:

  • ContiSportAttack
  • ContiSportAttack 2
  • ContiAttack SM
  • ContiRaceAttack Comp. Soft
  • ContiRaceAttack Comp. Medium
  • ContiRaceAttack Comp. Endurance
  • ContiRoadAttack 2 GTW

The last four digits of the DOT serial numbers indicate the production period. Tires between numbers 1907-2614 are included in the recall. No other production periods or products are affected.
