Waverly, AL – Police Respond to Major Accident on U.S. 280

Waverly, AL (October 10, 2021) – Police in Waverly were at the scene of a serious crash on Saturday evening, October 9th. The incident was first reported just after 8:00 p.m. on US Highway 280 near Lee Road.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division was among the first units to arrive at the scene. Paramedics and rescue workers were also called in to assist with the crash. The accident is reported to have involved two vehicles. The extent of the injuries is not known at this time. The roadway was blocked while police and rescue workers assisted at the scene. Drivers in the area were asked to use caution and to avoid the crash if possible by finding alternate routes of travel.

There is no word on what led up to the accident at this time. An investigation remains ongoing.
