Sardis City, AL (November 30, 2021) – A 6-year-old boy was killed in a crash that happened in Sardis City on Monday, November 29th. The crash took place on Highway 431 near Barry’s Backyard BBQ.
According to Will Alexander, Sardis Police Chief, the deceased victim was a passenger in a Honda Civic. The boy’s father stopped the vehicle in the southbound lanes of Highway 431 in order to clear debris from the roadway. As the car was stopped in the road, it was struck from behind by a Ford F150 pickup truck. The boy was inside the vehicle when it was struck.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham where he later succumbed to his injuries. There were no other injuries reported in the accident.
Police are still investigating the accident. There is no word on whether any charges will be filed. An investigation is ongoing.
