Alabama Pedestrian Accidents
According to statistics maintained by the Alabama Department of Transportation, there was a total of 613 accidents involving pedestrians in 2019. The overwhelming number of these crashes resulted in injuries or death for victims. Out of these collisions, 50 fatalities and 528 non-fatal injuries were reported. The death and injury rate for Alabama pedestrian accidents is higher than 90%. Pedestrians have little protection from the force and impact of the accident and a crash frequently leads to devastating consequences.
Pedestrians who are involved in accidents in our state are often hurt due to the negligence of other drivers. Many motorists who are speeding or distracted can fail to see a pedestrian in the roadway, resulting in a major crash. Under Alabama law, these drivers are responsible for their negligent actions leading to the accident. Victims can be entitled to recover different types of compensation, including pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills, and potentially more.
