Citronelle Pedestrian Crash
As of 2019, the number of pedestrian fatalities in Alabama was on the rise. Since 2008, our state has seen a greater than 60% increase in the number of reported deaths due to pedestrian accidents with more than 120 pedestrians killed in the most recent year for which we have statistics. More than 70% of all pedestrian accidents in Alabama occur after dark when driver visibility is lower and pedestrians are at greater risk of being struck.
Following a pedestrian accident, all aspects of the crash must be carefully investigated. Police will examine the accident scene and determine whether the crash was avoidable or whether the driver could have taken steps to stop the crash from occurring. Many pedestrian accidents take place because of driver negligence, including distraction and failing to yield the right of way. In some accidents, a simple step by the driver would have prevented a needless tragedy.
