Fatal Car Accidents in Alabama
According to statistics from the Alabama Department of Transportation, there were more than 900 fatalities due to car accidents in our state in 2019. This number has increased in recent years as our roadways are becoming more dangerous. A serious car accident can take place at any time and can leave loved ones devastated as they face the sudden loss of a family member. Unfortunately, this is one of the most devastating events that you will likely ever experience.
Following a serious or deadly Alabama car accident, it is important to have a full understanding of your legal rights. If your loved one was killed in an accident that was not their fault, the law could provide a remedy. Under Alabama law, the victim’s next-of-kin may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. These claims can see certain types of compensation, including medical bills, punitive damages, funeral expenses, and potentially more. These cases are complicated and should only be handled by an experienced attorney.
