Pedestrian Accidents in Alabama

Auburn, AL - Man Killed After Being Hit by Vehicle on U.S. 29

Alabama has experienced a recent troubling trend with pedestrian accidents. According to statistics maintained by the Alabama Department of Transportation, 120 people were killed by pedestrian accidents in 2019. In 2018, there were 107 deaths due to pedestrian accidents. Overall, since 2008, our state has seen more than 1,000 people killed in pedestrian crashes. In addition to fatalities, an Alabama pedestrian accident carries a great risk of being injured as more than 90% of all pedestrian accidents result in either death or injuries for the victims.

After a pedestrian crash, family members are often left stunned and surprised. These crashes can turn your life upside down in a matter of seconds. Liability for pedestrian accidents can be a complicated question as the facts surrounding the accident can be murky. In many instances, a thorough investigation must be done in order to determine who should be held responsible for the collision. Negligent drivers are frequently responsible for pedestrian accidents due to distracted driving, impairment, speeding and reckless driving.
