Athens, AL (September 23, 2021) – A 53-year-old man has been identified as the victim who lost their life following a bicycle accident on Wednesday evening, September 23rd in Athens.
Preliminary reports provided by the local police show that the bicyclist was traveling west on Highway 72 when they were struck by two vehicles in the area of Jefferson Street.
The rider suffered severe injuries in the accident. Despite the emergency crew’s best efforts at rendering aid to the rider, he succumbed to his injuries. No one inside either vehicle sustained injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
