Alexandria, AL (September 9, 2021) – A young child has lost their life following a falling into a manhole in Alexandria on Wednesday evening. At around 7 p.m., on September 1, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at an accident on Pelham Lane.
Reports from local authorities show that an 11-month-old boy was involved in a slip and fall accident while at a home on Pelham Lane. Investigators found that the child fell into the manhole on a septic tank after the unsecured plastic cover came off.
The child sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was rendered aid at the scene and rushed to a local hospital. Authorities confirmed that the young child was pronounced deceased from his injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
