Xarelto® Bleeding Injury Lawyers

Xarelto ® (rivaroxaban) was first approved by the FDA in July 2011. The drug is a blood thinner, and has three primary uses: reducing the risk of blood clots and stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation, treating deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms, and reducing the risk of blood clots in patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.

Anticoagulant medications like Xarelto may be prescribed to prevent the potentially fatal consequences of a blood clot. Patients taking blood thinners must be very careful to prevent injury, as anyone on a medication like Xarelto cannot clot naturally after a wound—and may bleed to death.

If you or a loved one has suffered from bleeding episodes after taking Xarelto®, you may be able to file a lawsuit to seek financial compensation for your injuries from the drug’s manufacturer. The lawyers at Cory Watson Attorneys have decades of experience helping drug injury victims nationwide, and we’re available to evaluate your case, day or night. Health Risks Linked to Xarelto®

Older blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) have an antidote, namely, a shot of Vitamin K, which can counteract the drugs when bleeding starts and allow blood to begin clotting naturally.

Xarelto has no such antidote—a factor that may cause patients who take Xarelto to be more susceptible to severe hemorrhages, internal bleeding, or even death. Specifically, Xarelto has been linked to increased risks of gastrointestinal bleeding, brain bleeds, and intracranial hemorrhaging.

Xarelto® Injury Lawsuits

Reports of adverse side effects of Xarelto have increased dramatically as the drug becomes more widely prescribed. Xarelto side effects are being reported at a rate of 2-to-1 over Pradaxa, the other new blood thinner on the market.

Not surprisingly, lawsuits are beginning to be filed, including allegations that the manufacturer:

  • Failed to warn patients and doctors about Xarelto’s side effects
  • Failed to warn patients and doctors that Xarelto’s anticoagulant effect had no antidote
  • Failed to design or manufacture Xarelto in a safe manner
  • Failed to update Xarelto’s side effect warnings in a timely manner

You and your family rely on your medication and your doctor’s advice to help keep you healthy. If Xarelto’s manufacturer failed to inform you or your doctor of its potential side effects, or you suffered adverse reactions without warning of the potential consequences of taking the drug, you may have grounds to file a lawsuit against the drug’s manufacturer.
