Russell County, AL (September 27, 2021) – A 52-year-old man from Phenix City has lost his life following a motor vehicle accident on Sunday evening in Russell County.
At approximately 8 p.m., on September 26, emergency crews were notified that a crash on Alabama Highway 169 required assistance.
Reports from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) show that a 52-year-old man from Phenix City was riding his 1999 Harley Davison motorcycle on Alabama 169 near mile marker 8 when his vehicle was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, which was driven by a 56-year-old man.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his vehicle, resulting in severe injuries. Authorities arrived at the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
The driver of the Chevrolet was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was arrested on a murder charge and placed in the Russell County Jail.
At this time, the Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. No other injuries were reported.
