Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accidents in Alabama
Tractor-trailer accident investigations are very different than the investigations conducted on standard car accidents. Tractor-trailer accidents are far more complicated than car accidents. Commercial trucks track more electronic data than any personal vehicle, including a black box that can give you and your attorney crucial information on the events leading up to your accident as well as the truck driver.
One of the difficulties of truck accident cases is the numerous state and federal trucking regulations and many operator training requirements. Trucking companies and their drivers are heavily regulated. For example, truck drivers are required to have a commercial driver’s license. Beyond that, they must have certain types of endorsements in order to drive certain types of trucks. Additionally, drivers also operate under very strict hours of service regulations that must be adhered to. If they work too many consecutive hours within a particular time frame, they could face multiple penalties as well as regulatory issues.
Investigating a tractor-trailer accident usually means filing a lawsuit in order to put the discovery process to use. During discovery, your Alabama tractor-trailer accident attorney and the other party are entitled to receive documentation and information from one another. This process often provides the proof your attorney needs to establish liability for your accident.
