Fatal Accidents in Alabama
Sadly, fatal accidents are reported every day across Alabama. In 2019, nearly 1,000 people lost their lives in Alabama traffic accidents. Many fatal crashes occur on highways or major roadways. Serious accidents are more likely to occur on the highway due to higher traffic volumes and higher speed limits. When these factors are combined with negligent driving behavior, the potential for a serious or fatal accident increases.
If you have lost a family member due to a car accident in Alabama, our condolences are with you. We know that there is nothing more devastating or heartbreaking than experiencing the sudden loss of a loved one. This is especially true if your loved one was killed in a crash that was not their fault. Despite the tragedy of this situation, you may have valuable legal rights. Under Alabama law, the victim’s next-of-kin may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim to recover certain types of damages in the aftermath of the crash.
