Sponsored by a Congressional health education program, Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities.
The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to raise awareness of preventable men’s health problems and encourage early detection and prevention of disease among men and boys. It is estimated that approximately 30,000 men in the U.S. alone die each year from prostate cancer while men make ½ as many physician visits for prevention as women.

This month is a great opportunity for policy makers, health care providers, and activists alike to encourage men to get regular medical check-ups and early treatment for disease. The ongoing campaign has received thousands of supporters in the US and around the globe. Supporters wear blue during the month of June to raise awareness and money for education about men’s health issues. The social hashtag #ShowUsYourBlue has increased in popularity in recent years and is used to spread awareness on a global scale.
