Hazel Green, AL (October 25, 2021) – A 55-year-old man died in a car accident that took place in Hazel Green on Saturday night. The crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. on Joe Quick Road.
According to the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, a 24-year-old man from New Market was driving a Ford Ranger on Joe Quick Road when he left the roadway. The Ranger went off the road to the right and struck a tree before coming to rest. The 55-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Ford, suffered critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The New Market man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition at this time. Police have not determined the cause of the accident. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel due to a heavy police presence at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. There is no word on whether any charges will be filed.
