A former DuPont employee, Dawn D. Jackson, thought she was telling the truth about C8 to her Ohio River Valley neighbors in 2000. Jackson was told by her employer that the chemical used to make Teflon was not a cancer risk to humans and that it was just as safe as “Dishwashing Soap.” This information, provided by DuPont officials and scientists, was used by Jackson to write all her press releases to the community.
